Quartzite is a hard, metamorphic rock that forms when sandstone is subjected to high heat and pressure over time. This process causes the quartz grains in the sandstone to fuse together, creating a dense, durable rock. Quartzite is primarily composed of quartz (usually more than 90%) and can contain other minerals like feldspar and mica.
Quartzite is a natural product available in a wide range variety in terms of colour tones and slab movement.
Quartzite is known for its hardness, although some Quartzites have limitations to minimize fragility due to the geological make up of the material. Artisan Stone only stock / promote Quartzites that have tested durability and suitability for high use areas.
